San Francisco Bay area children’s author Cynthia Chin-Lee will talk about why sharing both our adversities and victories is important. She’ll read from her books “Amelia to Zora: 26 Women Who Changed the World” and “Akira to Zoltan: 26 Men Who Changed the World.” She’ll highlight Asian Pacific American women, who have contributed through their struggles and triumphs, including Maya Lin, architect; Yoshiko Uchida, teacher and writer; and Kristi Yamaguchi, Olympic ice skater. She’ll also talk about Asian Pacific American men: Ellison Onizuka, astronaut; Tiger Woods, golfer; and Yo-Yo Ma, cellist and composer.
Cynthia Chin-Lee grew up in Washington, DC but spent most of her life in California, the last 6 years in Half Moon Bay. She’s the author of 8 books, 7 for children, including the best-selling “Amelia to Zora: 26 Women Who Changed the World.” She writes with compassion and empathy.
